Discrimination and Rights

The Sex Discrimination Ordinance provides protection against discrimination at work on the grounds of sex, marital status and gender reassignment.

The Prevention of Discrimination Ordinance came into force on the 1st October 2023 . It provides protection from discrimination on the grounds of disability, carer status, race, religion or belief, or sexual orientation. It will apply for employment and also when accessing goods or services, education, accommodation or membership of clubs and associations.

There is currently no protection from discrimination on the ground of age.
